Augusta University: Completion of the twenty-one-month curriculum in Medical Illustration results in a Master of Science in Medical Illustration degree granted through the Graduate School. Augusta University is part of the University System of Georgia. The program emphasizes anatomical and surgical illustration for print and electronic publication, as well as for projection and broadcast distribution. In addition to being skilled artists, medical illustrators must be knowledgeable in anatomy and the health sciences. Our students study communication theory and illustration techniques, and take graduate-level science courses, such as gross anatomy and cell biology, with the medical students.
University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC): Biomedical Visualization (BVIS) integrates medicine, life science, communication technology, visual learning, education science, research and artistic training. We collaborate with Medicine, Bio-engineering and other departments at UIC, one of the nation’s leading health research universities. Our close relationships with other Chicago medical universities, professional medical societies, medical advertising agencies, pharmaceutical companies, museums, animation studios and software companies give our students real-world, hands-on experience.
John Hopkins: The Department of Art as Applied to Medicine is a leader in the field of visual communication for science and health care. Built on a strong foundation of scientific knowledge, artistic technique, and clear visual communication, the Department of Art as Applied to Medicine has maintained the highest standards while embracing new medical, scientific, and communication technologies. Today, Art as Applied to Medicine educates future medical illustrators through a two-year, accredited, Master of Arts program in Medical and Biological Illustration.
University of Toronto Mississauga: The Master of Science in Biomedical Communications MScBMC is unique in Canada and one of four accredited programs of its kind. This two-year professional graduate program prepares students for careers in the visual communication of science, medicine, and health.
